PIZ DANTER DÖES FORCELES (2929 Altitude)
THE ASCENT
South-eastern saddle and north-western ridge.
The itinerary corresponds almost completely with the previous one, n. 12. Follow it until the center of the high hollow of Büsc da Stlü (Tamples da Füch = flints), turn left and climb up steeper inclines until you reach the ridge saddle on the West of Piz dles Cunturines. From the saddle follow the ridge in direction North-West and reach the peak of Piz Danter Döes Forceles.
Note:
The summit of Piz dles Cunturines, 3064, is the highest elevation of the mountain range. It looks like an enormous rocky dice with a height of approximately 100 m. The mountain has not yet been climbed in winter, even if it has a summer difficulty of grade 1 and 2.
WALKING TIME
3 1/2 - 6 hours
THE DESCEND
Two possibilities:
a) Retrace the ascent itinerary, descending on the summit crest in south-eastern direction, reaching the Tamples da Füch and the continue as in descent itinerary n. 12.
b) Lower easily to the nearby saddle of 2885 m altitude, in direction of the Piz de Lavarela, and then as in descent itinerary n. 12. The direction of the itineraries can be reversed for this tour as well.
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
- Just like S1; some soft terrain irregularities and hollows. The descent is free
- The slope is more marked (30° ÷ 35°). It is not always easy to proceed in a straight line; it is necessary to bend more often, the terrain opens giving a certain degree of route choice
- Good skier: he can confidently engage in S3 descends; he can manage descends ot the higher difficulty type as well, as long as they are not continuous or very long
SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT
- Ski skins
